A day with Claude Monet

at the Carrières des Lumières

16.07.2025

On Tuesday July 8, Culture for Children introduced over 200 children to the Carrières des Lumières (Baux-de-Provence) as part of a special event entitled “A day with Claude Monet”. An opportunity for these children, who are unable to go on vacation, to enjoy a cultural outing.

A unique event to provide access to culture for all

To pursue our mission of social inclusion through culture, Culture for Children has decided to organize a special day to discover the Carrières des Lumières. The aim: to enable children who don't always have access to culture to discover this exceptional immersive art center.

And what better way to celebrate the summer vacations than to plunge into the world of Impressionism by wandering through the digital exhibition “Monet, creator of Impressionism”!

A day combining education and artistic discovery

On Tuesday July 8, 200 children from social centers and associations in the PACA and Occitanie regions came to the Carrières des Lumières to take advantage of this initiative.

Before being allowed to wander freely through the immersive art center, each group of children benefited from an educational session given by our mediation team. This introduction to the work of Claude Monet enabled them to take full advantage of the exhibition. Sheltered from the sun in Les Baux-de-Provence, the children were able to discover the breadth of his art, influenced by light, reflections and nature... An artistic experience they won't soon forget.

It was incredible! The impression of grandeur with the canvases coming to life on the walls. It was a great cultural event for the children.
